I look forward to the day I can meet (I mean meet, in person, really meet!) Donna Minter and Chrixell Shell! Their Introduction to Resilience and Self-Care Training today was, as all of the training I’ve been involved in with the Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute has been, thoughtful, well-produced and added another important piece of the puzzle for me and my understanding of restorative practices.
I appreciated this discussion about the relaxation response. Peacebuilding is about relationships to be sure, but it’s also about the “inside work”, the tools and ways individuals find trust and support, learn the ways to self-regulate, and make choices to learn and sustain personal resilience. Donna talked about “grit”, the aspect of resilience that allowed some people to bounce back from trauma, while others do not and what that means for them as individuals and as members of the broader community. More to learn. Next up, compete the STAR training.
